Our study sessions run for three hours on a weekly basis. You can come and leave at any time! Once you're there, you can study for your next actuarial exam in a group setting. This is a great time to ask questions about problems you don't quite understand. By working with others, you can form a deeper understanding of the material, which will help significantly when taking the exam. There will always be someone there who will be able to help with exam P/1 or FM/2, as both I and the Vice President will be at the sessions.
Even if you don't have an exam to study for, if you have questions about actuary science in general, you can come by any time and ask! There is always someone there who is willing to help.
An added benefit of coming to study sessions, particularly for exam P/1, is the fact that Dr. Russell Lyons graciously stops by to answer questions about probability! The time he comes in can vary by week, so at the beginning of each week I will announce when he plans to come in. If no one is there to ask him questions, he will not stick around, but he is completely willing to stay as long as people have questions for him. If you have a schedule conflict with when Dr. Lyons arrives, you may always send him a message to arrange a time to talk to him. I'm sure he is more than willing to help students with the tricky spots of probability theory.
